The Tamburnin Estate is situated in Frazione Bardella, in the town of Castelnuovo Don Bosco, already in the province of Asti, even if it is only about twenty km far from Turin and about ten km far from Chieri.
The town of Castelnuovo, castled at a height of about 300 mt, strikes the visitor getting there for the first time just for this characteristic.
The town belongs to the “Alto Astigiano hill community” and it is well-known to everybody as the town “of the Saints and the wines”.
It refers mainly to St. Giovanni Bosco, the founder of the Salesians, St. Giuseppe Cafasso and St. Domenico Savio.
The town is characterized by the medieval Rivalba’s Tower, once surrounded by the castle. Two Churches, among the others: the Madonna del Castello, of the baroque age and the Church of St. Andrea deserve at least a glaze.
The outskirts to visit:
Colle Don Bosco:
Situated in the Frazione Becchi, at a few km from the centre of Castelnuovo, Colle Don Bosco rises; it has been destination of the tourists for a long time, who are eager to see the Temple of Don Bosco, the Church of Santa Maria Ausiliatrice, the ethnographic Museum of the worldwide Salesian missions and the Museum of the peasant life of ‘800, besides, of course, the Saint’s birth-house.
Vezzolano Abbey:
The Burgundian Vezzolano Abbey is situated in the place where once a Roman settling and still before a Celtic town for the Nature cult rose. The Romanesque Burgundian style marks it, together with the numerous symbologies about the origin and the royal descendants of Jesus Christ, as the famous tympanum representing Christ, Triumphing King, and the royal descendants of Jesus, from David to Solomon, shows.
